美國海岸防衛隊在年底的聲明稿中指出，聯邦政府對於卡崔娜及莉塔風災的環境重整行動將會持續到2006年。這個由國家應變計劃（NRP）所主導的多部會計畫，將有路州環品部（DEQ）、美國環保署及海岸防衛隊參與其中。

U.S. Unified Command Extends Hurricane Environmental Response Into 2006

METAIRIE, Louisiana, January 5, 2006 (ENS)

A coordinated federal-state environmental response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will continue in 2006, the U.S. Coast Guard said in a year end statement. The multi-agency effort, organized under the National Response Plan, includes the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Coast Guard.
