6日晚間聯合國秘書長安南獲頒薩伊德國際全球環境領導獎（Zayed International Global Leadership Prize for the Environment）及獎金100萬美元，安南將使用這100萬美元創辦基金會致力於非洲農業及青少女教育。安南表示：「將豐厚的獎金以基金的方式使用，沒有什麼比這個更好的了。」
Annan Will Start African Foundation With Million Dollar Zayed Prize
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan says he will use the $1 million Zayed International Global Leadership Prize for the Environment he received last night to establish a foundation to work in Africa for agriculture and girls' education. "I can think of no better use of the funds bestowed by this generous prize than devoting them to the cause of sustainable development," Annan said.
