誰謂河廣？一葦杭之。誰謂宋遠？跂予望之。
誰謂河廣？曾不容刀。誰謂宋遠？曾不崇朝。

黃河寬闊

誰說黃河太寬闊？乘一枝葦草可渡過。
誰說宋國太遙遠？立著腳尖看得見。

誰說黃河太寬大？一隻小船也容不下。
誰說宋國太遙遠？一個早晨到那邊。

Translated by Fu-Shiang Chia

Who said the Yellow River is too wide –
it can be crossed on a blade of grass.

Who said the Song nation is too far –
it can be seen when one’s on tiptoe.

Who said the Yellow River is too wide –
it cannot even hold a small boat.

Who said the Song nation is too far –
it can be reached by a morning’s journey.
