美國環境保護署22日發佈一份名為《全國空氣污染物評估》之報告，內容指出美國大部份城市空氣品質惡劣，其居民生活曝露於百萬分之二十五以上的致癌風險之下，遠高於一般民眾的致癌機率。評估同時顯示，位居交通要道及一些特定地點之終生致癌風險甚至高於百萬分之五十。
Air Toxics Lifetime Cancer Risk High for U.S. City Dwellers
Residents of most U.S. cities have an air toxic lifetime cancer risk greater than 25 in a million – a rate above the risk of people in the general population, according to the second National-Scale Air Toxics Assessment, released today by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency. Lifetime cancer risk in transportation corridors and some other locations is greater than 50 in million, the assessment shows.
