誰能想到，紙也可以作成可洗淨重複利用的餐盤，還有美妙的形狀呢？美妙的形狀來自力學支撐的考量結合，而白色的底剛好配合無印刷的紙張。
每年都有的米蘭家具盛會，其實有很多令人讚嘆的永續 / 綠色設計。這個紙餐盤雖然是2005年的作品，雖然稱不上非常綠，不過卻很有創意，也讓我開始注意到防水合成紙張的特殊應用。
美國著名的防水紙研發商YUPO推出他們的產品好一陣子，然而觀看網站上的應用（Application）成功案例，卻只有折頁（Brochure）、地圖、書籤等等的印刷製品，沒有一個成功產品案例凸顯防水、無毒、可重複清洗使用的特性，還有綠色設計概念的重點。
然而他們的產品技術卻滿先進的，看看他們的Eco-Benefit理由：

所以我為他們可惜不是沒有理由的，像圖中餐盤的設計，不是很美好嗎？為何沒有放進他們的成功案例（Successful Case）裡頭？這個餐盤的設計者Liming Rao設計時就想到，這樣的紙盤不再是用過即丟，可清洗重複使用，整個設計上更是為了完全不用到其他的素材、以成為100%可回收的產品，而運用了巧思讓餐盤有一種弧度，達到支撐的效果。
工業設計者在尋找設計的靈感，除了美觀應用巧思，相信更重要的是永續的思維能否放進產品的生命。看似簡單的素材，背後卻代表這個產品的可用性，對地球的傷害減到最低，大量生產也不會浪費過多的水。
換個角度，如果有一個防水的環保材料，能夠塑造成各種形狀，我們還可以利用這樣的好素材製作成什麼好東西呢？
