英國，倫敦，2001-12-20 (Greenpeace)-爭議性的謝拉費爾德MOX燃料廠於今日稍早開始投入鈽原料運轉，為此，綠色和平組織對英國政府及英國核燃料公司予以譴責。使用這種致命核能原料的決策，將加深謝拉費爾德廠對周邊環境的污染，並升高國際安全的風險因子，包括核恐怖主義、核武擴散等。綠色和平、地球之友曾多次以法律抗爭手段，試圖阻礙燃料廠運轉。愛爾蘭政府則訴諸國際法律來對抗英國政府，目前有2項仲裁案件正在進行當中。

20 December 2001London - Greenpeace has condemned the UK government and British Nuclear Fuels for the introduction of plutonium into the controversial Sellafield MOX Plant (SMP) earlier today. The decision to proceed with loading of the lethal nuclear material will increase environmental pollution from the Sellafield site and increase international security risks, including nuclear terrorism and proliferation of nuclear weapons. A range of legal challenges have been mounted by Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth in an effort to prevent the plant from opening. The Irish government currently has two international legal cases on-going against the UK government.
