科學家首次揭露，女性胎兒在發展前列腺期間，若暴露在低劑量的環境雌激素中，將會有易罹患前列腺癌的體質。這項發現刊登於1日出刊的《癌症研究》期刊中。而在白老鼠實驗中所使用的酚甲烷（BPA），也是用於製造嬰兒奶瓶、重複使用的水瓶及食物容器等塑膠製品的化學原料。
Chemical in Plastics Linked to Prostate Cancer
The first evidence that exposure to low doses of environmental estrogens during development of the prostate gland in the male fetus may result in a predisposition to prostate cancer later in life is presented by a study in the June 1 issue of the journal "Cancer Research." Rats were exposed to the chemical bisphenol A, used in making the plastic found in baby bottles, reusable water bottles and food storage containers.
