聯合國糧農組織（FAO）11日警示，非洲北部與西部國家未來將可能受到蝗蟲危害其境內作物。糧農組織官方日前於茅利塔尼亞（Mauritania）西北部，探測到新的沙漠蝗族群大批出沒，隨後立即發佈警報，假使合適的氣候與生態條件持續下去，將大幅提升蝗蟲成群橫掃全區的可能性。
Locust Warnings Sounded for North Africa
Locusts could devastate crops in the nations of northern and western Africa, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization warned Wednesday. The FAO issued alert after officials detected new desert locust infestations in northwest Mauritania, increasing the likelihood of an upsurge of swarms across the region if favorable weather and ecological conditions persist.
