美國國家科學院7日出刊的《學報》中刊載一篇論文指出，大型哺乳類動物如北美馴鹿等，現已沒有瀕危危機，然而只要人類數量快速成長，未來仍存在著絕種的高風險。美國及英國研究員指出：「北美馴鹿的棲息地將成為未來保育哺乳類動物的戰場。」
Mammal Conservation Battlegrounds of the Future
Large mammals such as North American reindeer, or caribou, are not now endangered, but they may be at highest risk of extinction in the future as the human population grows, finds research published today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The regions they inhabit will be the "future battlegrounds of mammal conservation," said researchers from the UK and the United States.
