美國16個州在19日向聯邦法院提告，挑戰環保署9日公佈的最終版汞排放上限與額度交易法規──依據法規，未來環保署將制定一套總量管制系統，用以控管燃煤電廠所排放的有毒汞氣體。美國環保署5月31日曾發表聲明表示，儘管各州、部落和環保團體都提出請願，但仍將持續實行水銀排放總量管制計劃。
Sixteen States Sue U.S. EPA Over Mercury Cap-and Trade Rule
Sixteen states filed a new lawsuit today in federal court challenging the final rules published June 9, by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency which establish a cap-and-trade system for regulating harmful mercury emissions from coal-burning power plants. The EPA announced on May 31 that it would move forward with its cap-and-trade program for mercury emissions despite petitions from states, tribes and environmental groups.
