美國參議院於16日以51比49票的極小差距，勉強通過了極地野保區石油開採的預算草案，總值2.8兆美元。這樣的結果為國會中此議案的反對者製造了另一次機會，他們在去年的總預算表決中，極力阻撓極地野保區石油案通過，而他們亦宣誓今年將會再採取相同的行動。
U.S. Senate Budget Reignites Arctic Drilling Debate
The Senate narrowly approved a $2.8 trillion budget blueprint Thursday that calls for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). The 51-49 vote sets the stage for another showdown with drilling opponents in the House, who blocked the ANWR provision from the final budget resolution in 2005 and have vowed to do the same this year.
