美國大氣學家在研究過北極衛星遙測數據後，對極地海水冰層面積的銳減做出警示。其發表的兩份報告中指出，在夏季融化的極地季節性海冰與常年性的海冰，其面積皆在過去兩年間急劇的縮減。
Arctic Sea Ice Disappearing
Arctic sea ice is decreasing at an alarming rate, according to a pair of new studies by U.S. climate scientists. Analysis of satellite data shows both seasonal sea ice and perennial sea ice, which normally survives the summer melt season and remains year round, have shrank dramatically in the past two years.
