Sung Chull Kim博士目前為南韓首爾大學和平統一研究中心「人文韓國講座教授」(Humanities Korea Professor)。曾任日本廣島和平研究所研究員,長期以來對國際安全、核能利用與北韓議題著墨甚深。
Kim著作甚豐,著有專書:North Korea under Kim Jong Il (State University of New York Press, 2006)、合編:Regional Cooperation and Its Enemies in Northeast Asia (Routledge, 2006, with Edward Friedman), Engagement with North Korea (State University of New York Press, 2009, with David Kang)。並於Systems Research and Behavioral Science、Eastern European Politics、Development and Society等著名國際期刊發表論文。
本演講為政治大學邁向頂尖大學計畫系列學術活動,由政治大學國際關係研究中心與臺灣大學政治學系共同舉辦。本演講以英語進行。

Kim, Sung Chull 教授簡歷
Short Bio:
Sung Chull Kim is Humanities Korea Professor of Peace Studies in the Institute for Peace and Unification Studies at Seoul National University. Before holding this position, he served as a senior fellow at Korea Institute for National Unification (1992-2003), a visiting professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2002-2003), and a professor at the Hiroshima Peace Institute (2003-2012).
Kim'sresearch interests are in international security and peace, political violence, and dual-use nuclear technology.
He is completing a single-authored book manuscript on alliance politics in East Asia. He is the author of a number of books including North Korea under Kim Jong Il: From Consolidation to Systemic Dissonance (State University of New York Press, 2006).
He edited several books including Regional Cooperation and Its Enemies in Northeast Asia: The Impact of Domestic Forces (Routledge, 2006, with Edward Friedman), Engagement with North Korea: A Viable Alternative (State University of New York Press, 2009, with David Kang), and State Violence in East Asia (University Press of Kentucky, 2013, with N. Ganesan).
He has contributed numerous articles to academic journals including Systems Research and Behavioral Science (formerly Behavioral Science), Eastern European Politics (formerly J. of Communist Studies and Transition Politics), and Development and Society.
