英國皇家學會、英國國家科學院與醫療科學學會1日發起一項大規模研究計畫，率領國內科學界披掛戰袍，研究對抗流行性感冒之對策。研究團隊主席史高特爵士表示：「流行性感冒有可能殺害世界千百萬人，我們只能作好萬全的準備，並儘可能汲取國際科學及醫療界最有力的建言。」
UK Academies Investigate Best Science to Battle Pandemic Flu
A study into the use of science in UK preparations for an influenza pandemic was launched today by the Royal Society, the UK national academy of science, and the Academy of Medical Science. "Pandemic flu could kill millions of people around the world, and we will only be as well prepared as we possibly can in this country if our plans draw on the best advice of the international scientific and medical communities," said the study's chair Sir John Skehel.
