世界規模最大的水壩將於6月6日正式完工，位於長江上的三峽大壩混凝土壩面，將在一連串的圍堰爆破拆除後，開始進行擋水。為了建造大壩主體而興建的三個圍堰，目前只剩下最後一個，其功用是提供工程人員興建右岸大壩時所需的電力，同時也做為臨時的擋水壩，將河水隔絕在即將被淹沒的大壩主體之外。
China's Three Gorges Dam to Begin Flood Control With a Bang
The moment of truth for the world's largest dam will arrive on June 6. The main concrete wall of the Three Gorges dam on the Yangtze River must begin to hold water after a temporary cofferdam is demolished in a series of planned explosions. The last of three cofferdams used in building the massive dam, it generated power for construction crews building the main dam's right bank and served as a temporary barrier, excluding water from an area of the main dam that will soon be submerged.
