Canadian Smelter Town Residents Not Warned of Health Risks
Residents of a New Brunswick village that hosts one of Canada's two lead smelters have not been warned of risks to their health from the facility, a New Brunswick environment group has discovered. The Conservation Council of New Brunswick on Thursday released the results of a three year investigation into government handling of contamination in the town of Belledune, on New Brunswick’s Bay of Chaleur, a deep water port on the Atlantic Ocean.
