來自全球不同國家的海洋科學家計劃以外科手術方式，將電子標籤植入上千隻海洋動物體內，再透過多台海底聲波接收器來進行追蹤。佈署在重要海域的接收器，會對電子標籤進行掃描，作業方式就和在商店結帳時掃描商品上的電子條碼一樣。
Scientists Use Ocean Listening Curtains to Track Tagged Animals
Ocean scientists from around the world have plans to surgically insert electronic tags into thousands of ocean animals and follow them with extensive arrays of acoustic receivers on the sea floor. Deployed in all major oceans, the receivers will scan the tags the way bar codes on products are scanned at a store check-out.
