暱稱鱷魚先生的澳洲保育人士史帝夫厄文(Steve Irwin），同時也是動物星球主持人，4日他在大堡礁拍攝期間遭刺魟襲擊身亡，享年44歲。鱷魚先生的友人史丹頓表示，當時他正在昆士蘭沿岸近道格拉斯港拍攝紀錄片，但他游得太靠近那隻刺魟而不幸受害。
Stingray Kills Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin
Steve Irwin, the Australian conservationist and television personality nicknamed the Crocodile Hunter, was killed Monday by a stingray barb during filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44. Irwin was filming for a series called "Ocean's Deadliest" off the coast of Queensland near Port Douglas when he swam too close to a stingray, said his friend and colleague John Stainton.
