看守世界研究中心（Worldwatch Institute）昨日在其年度報告《2006年世界現況》（State of the World 2006）中指出，俱強大經濟力及對地球生態有深遠影響力的中國及印度，將加入美國「地球力量」的行列。報告中亦表示，中、印兩國爆發性的經濟成長，將可能對生態及政治穩定造成嚴重的威脅；然這兩個亞洲巨人亦可將世界導向一個永續的發展趨勢。

China and India Set to Steer Global Sustainability
China and India are poised to join the United States as "planetary powers" with the economic muscle and influence to transform the ecological future of the Earth, the Worldwatch Institute said Wednesday in its annual report, "State of the World 2006." There remains a serious threat that the booming economies of China and India will result in increased ecological and political instability, Worldwatch said, but the two Asian giants could steer the world toward a path of sustainability.
