Achim Steiner Chosen for Top United Nations Environment Job
Achim Steiner, the head of the world’s largest environmental network, was elected by the United Nations General Assembly Thursday to be the next executive director of the UN Environment Programme. Steiner is the director-general of the World Conservation Union (IUCN), which has over 1,000 members that include states, government agencies, and nongovernmental organizations in 140 countries.
