歐盟執委會13日通過針對基因改造食物及動物飼料在歐洲市場流通的評核標準，其中特別強調科學根據的符合性以及決策過程的透明化。歐盟過去5年來，已替基因改造食物、飼料及作物的行銷與生產訂立一套規範系統。然而，歐盟內部許多會員國對任何與基因改造食物及飼料的行銷活動，仍是抱持著強烈的反對態度。
EU Alters GMO Assessments to Satisfy Resistant Member States
Today the European Commission approved measures intended to improve the scientific consistency and transparency for decisions on allowing European market access to genetically modified food and animal feeds. Over the past five years, the European Union has put in place a system to regulate the marketing and production of genetically modified food, feed and crops. But the marketing of genetically modified foods and feed is strongly resisted by many European Union member states.
