美國環境保護署（EPA）已頒佈一項新免除規定，自美國國家污染物質排放限定系統（NPDES）之允許範圍內，寬減了大部分由石油及天然氣開發、生產、處理工作、或輸送設施過程中雨水流溢之排放要求。此免除規定同樣包括了原受限定之營建活動。
U.S. Storm Water Rules Revised to Exempt Oil and Gas Development
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a new regulation that exempts most storm water discharges from oil and gas exploration, production, treatment operations, or transmission facilities from the requirement to obtain National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit coverage. The exemption also covers associated construction activities.
