歐盟執委會近日提出立法草案，希望在2011年禁止所有歐盟國家出口水銀。水銀的毒性對人體和環境都會造成破壞，對此歐盟制訂了一項降低全球人口接觸水銀的策略，而此禁令佔其中相當重要的一部分。這項禁令預計將可減少全球水銀的供應，以及重金屬放射對環境的破壞。
European Commission Proposes Ban on EU Mercury Exports
The European Commission has proposed legislation to ban all European Union exports of mercury from 2011. The ban forms a key part of the EU's strategy for reducing global exposure to mercury, which is toxic to humans and the environment. The export ban is expected to reduce global supply and emissions of the heavy metal into the environment.
