美國一位聯邦法官已下令終止對西海岸受威脅且瀕絕的史代拉（Stellar）海獅進行任何侵犯性研究。該項受爭議之研究內容包含每天捕捉逾3千頭史代拉海獅，並加以烙印標記。上烙過後，通常在沒有麻醉的情況下，海獅還必須遭受到更為痛楚的研究過程，包括拔牙以及抽取脂肪與其他組織之樣本。
Judge Halts Hot Branding of Stellar Sea Lions
A federal judge has ordered an end to invasive research on threatened and endangered Stellar sea lions on the West coast of the United States. The research at issue involved the annual capture and hot branding of 3,000 Stellar sea lions. After branding, the sea lions were subjected to painful research procedures, including teeth extraction and removal of fat and other tissue samples, often with no anesthesia.
